Server-based Computing has become the mainstream technology of the current access architecture. It is an application program that is 100% installed, managed, supported and implemented on a server, and it features separation of the application logic from its user interfaces, with only the key information, mouse clicking information and screen update information transferred between the client and the server, so the network bandwidth consumed per second is less than 28.8k.

The CTBS-based solution is an entire access solution that surpasses the traditional VPN solution. VPN has gradually become a basic network access technology. The traditional VPN solution uses the IPSec VPN mode to form a virtual LAN on the Internet, making the two ends of the C/S application connected virtually, while real service data is transferred through the network. But IPSec VPN does not solve the problems of servers being exposed, the client management and bandwidth of transmission, and is still involved in problems of complex deployment and management, poor network compatibility and extra security problem.

7. Typical Application

An international group, a foreign trade export processing enterprise, is engaged in small household appliances and plastic products, and is one of the top 100 export enterprises of Shenzhen. Headquartered in Shenzhen, the group has four factories in the suburb of Shenzhen and in Jiangsu Province. The group uses the K/3ERP system of Kingdee to exert centralized management over finance and production.
 
Requirement: To reinforce management and supervision on its subsidiaries, especially to respond to international competition, and to exert accurate and timely cost calculation, the enterprise needs centralized financial management; in addition, since the medium- and high-level management personnel go abroad on business on a long-term basis, they need to timely understand how the company is operating.

Solution: A CTBS server is configured in the LAN of the headquarters (which can be shared when there are not many concurrent users), a K/3ERP client program of Kingdee is installed on the server. Personnel in the headquarters access to the Internet through a DDN private line, while those in factories in different places access to the Internet by means of ADSL dialup.
